About Us

Shatibiy Institute is your gateway to the knowledge of Islam.

Shatibiy Institute is a dedicated educational centre located at Beaumont Leys Masjid in Leicester, UK. Founded with the mission to preserve and disseminate the rich heritage of Islamic knowledge, we specialise in delivering a classical and immersive education in the traditional Islamic sciences.

Our institute is named after the revered scholar Imam Al-Shatibi, reflecting our commitment to high standards in both teaching and learning. We offer a range of free courses designed to provide students with a deep understanding of essential Islamic disciplines, including Qur'anic recitation, Tajweed, Arabic grammar, and Hadith sciences.

At Shatibiy Institute, we emphasize both memorisation and comprehension, following a time-honoured methodology that has been the backbone of Islamic scholarship for centuries. Our courses are primarily taught in Arabic, ensuring that students engage directly with the source texts, though we also offer foundational courses in English to accommodate beginners.

We believe that the pursuit of knowledge is a lifelong journey and an act of devotion. We aim to nurture students who are not only well-versed in the sciences of Islam but also capable of applying their knowledge in their daily lives, embodying the teachings of the Qur'an and Sunnah.

Whether you are looking to deepen your understanding of the Qur'an, refine your Tajweed, or embark on a journey into the intricacies of Arabic grammar and Hadith studies, Shatibiy Institute provides the perfect environment to grow in both faith and knowledge. Join us as we strive to seek, learn, and illuminate the path of Islamic knowledge together.

Frequently Asked Questions

At Shatiby Institute, we want to make sure parents and students clearly understand how our courses work. Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions about deposits, attendance, and course completion.

Is the course free?
Yes. The courses themselves are free of charge. The deposit is only a safeguard to encourage commitment and successful completion.
Do I need to pay a deposit to enrol?
Yes. All students (or their parents) are required to pay a £100 deposit when enrolling.
How much is the deposit and how should it be paid?
The deposit is £100 and must be paid in one instalment. Cash and card payments are accepted.
Does the deposit cover all courses or just one?
The deposit covers all courses offered by the Institute. You do not need to pay a separate deposit for each course.
Who holds the deposit money?
All deposits are securely held in the account of Beaumont Leys Masjid.
What happens to deposits that are not returned?
Deposits that are not returned will be used for the Masjid Construction project.
What is the attendance requirement?
Students must attend at least 80% of classes in order to successfully complete the course.
What if a class is missed due to illness or family emergencies?
We understand genuine circumstances. The 80% attendance requirement already provides a fair margin to cover unforeseen situations. Beyond this threshold, a student will likely fall too far behind to complete the course successfully.
Can I join the course partway through the year?
No. Late enrolments will not be considered.
Can someone attend lessons without formally enrolling?
Yes. Anyone is welcome to sit in on lessons. However, such attendees cannot participate in discussions, sit exams, and will not receive a certificate of completion.
What does “successful completion” of a course mean?
Successful completion requires:
  • Attending at least 80% of classes
  • Completing exams and coursework
  • Achieving a minimum pass mark of 50% overall

What happens if a student fails a course despite attending all lessons?
If a student does not achieve the required 50% pass mark, they will not receive their deposit back, will not receive a certificate, and there are no opportunities for a resit.
When will I get my deposit back?
Deposits are returned upon the successful completion of all courses. This will take place on the graduation day, held in the first weeks of July.
How can progress be tracked during the year?
Student progress can be monitored directly through Google Classroom, where coursework, marks, and feedback are shared.
